While serving in the United States Air Force in
Korea in the early 70's, Jim discovered his true
calling when he started sending "radio shows" to
his friends back home. With a cassette tape
recorder and a reel to reel tape deck (which still
works) he would interview anyone from Korean
farmers to bartenders and cab drivers and then
edit them together with music and commentaries.

Thirty-five years later, he has lived most of his
media dreams, including announcing the Illinois
High School Basketball Championships on
state-wide TV, hosting his own morning radio
show where his interview skills received rave
reviews and being a part of the current
broadcast team on the Iowa Hawkeye Radio
Network. He's also handled the play-by-play for
the Quad-City SteamWheelers in over 150
games, traveling over 100,000 miles in the
process.

Now, he's at WQAD, a station where he served
as Sports Director and Active 8 at 5 Host for
many years and where he met his wife and best
friend Meredith (20 years and counting).

As the commentator for WQAD's "The Quad
Cities According to Jim", the former Alleman H.S.
grad can be seen at 6 & 10 on Tuesdays,
Thursday's and Sunday's for his perspectives on
living a life that never reaches for the snooze
button.
